The Small Blue Dot Ensemble was created by Karl Schindler in 2004 for the purpose of performing new or unknown works, especially those that require—or could use—theatrical elements in concert performances.

The first concert presented by the ensemble was MUSICIANS UNITE! A Night of Hanns Eisler Songs, on October 22 & 23, 2004 at Arizona State University. [pictures from the concert can be found on the Photos page]

Founding members of the Small Blue Dot Ensemble include:
Josh Carro, Tim Glemser, Jeff Jones, Christi Leman, Keith Lokey, Theresa Martin, Laura Noble, Holly Perry, Deborah Popham, Karl Schindler, and Courtney J. Sherman.

The ensemble's second performance included Schindler's Ghost Voices: Songs from a Cemetery, an intermedia cantata based on Edgar Lee Master's Spoon River Anthology, performed in April, 2005 at Arizona State University and in May, 2007 at Paradise Valley Community College.

Other ensemble performances are planned for the near future.
